Lord of the Rings Symphony

Last night I went to see the Lord of the Rings Symphony, played by the Houston Symphony. 'It were right good'.

I'd seen it before, last time it came to Houston, but a bunch of folks from work were interested, and I was happy to go again.

The composer, Howard Shore, apparantly designed the score for the films as a Symphony right from the get-go, and to my completely ignorant and untrained ear, the results were spectacular.

Jones Hall, the home of the Houston Symphony is located downtown, which is a pretty cool place nowadays thanks to a bit of a revival of bars 'n stuff. You can walk round easily enough, although as always take the risk of being mowed down by a Hummer or the new light rail transit system.
