A light breeze

So, we are expecting a little bit of wind this weekend in Houston, as Hurricane Rita bears down on us.
It is rather fortuitous then that Beccy's wedding necessitated a trip back to Blighty, neatly flying me 5000 miles away from millions of windblown, slightly damp, gun-toting, Merkins. As I type this out, I'm about 1 hour out of London's Gatwick airport with the dawn breaking over the horizon ahead of us.
So, as I left, the roads north were getting busy as the mandatory evacuation order for Galveston approached. Most people I know are planning on sticking it out in Houston, where although low lying, most damage will come from flooded roads and windblown debris.
BHP's emergency plans kicked off well in advance, and it is likely that the office will be closed shortly.
I've moved most of my electronic equipment into a room with no windows, and taken pictures off my walls. Hopefully my windows won't blow in, and the roof will stay on, but there is a limited amount I can do about it in any case! The car is parked on the second floor of the parking garage, so should be clear of flooding.
So, I am planning on being back in Houston on Sunday, which largely depends on weather British Airways are flying in to Houston. The airport is anticipated to be closed for a period.
Anyway, it will be good to be back and are ya'll again, albeit for a very quick trip.
