Flying Expedition
Hello!Well, here in Americaland we've just had Thanksgiving, which basically involves eating turkey and watching 'football' on TV. However, I had other ideas and rented N83HT, a nice little 2-seater Cessna 152, and proceeded to fly over to the Hill Country.
Over 4 days I clocked up 11.5 hours of flying time, and covered a distance of 997.1 nautical miles.
Now, I thought it would be kinda cool to see where I had been on Google Earth, so, without further ado, here ya go! You will of course require Google Earth to play with these. If you'd like to see the airspace around the USA (and how I have to fly either over or under it) then you can get a representation of it at http://www.lloydbailey.net/google_earth.htm.
I downloaded the track data from my Garmin GPSMap 296, which continues to prove itself as an excellent bit of kit. The tracks include altitude data, so you can see my climbs and decents in Google Earth nicely.

Hello sam, sounds like a nice way to spend thanksgiving! I didn't fly anywhere, but I didn't write my thesis either, so a net gain there I think :-). I did loose $20 playing video poker the following day though. Actually, I won $50 but Andy was playing serious manly poker in the card room and I was booooorreeed, so I promptly reinserted my winnings into a vidio poker machine and lost it all. Oops.
You should put an RSS feed on this blog- I just did on mine and it's dead easy.

Greetings Chris! For the record, I do have an XML feed for this site (http://www.samclayton.net/Current/Blog/feed/atom.xml)
FireFox will pick it up automagically, but I should probably add one of those snazzy orange button things... Good point!
Good to hear of your gambling success, but less good to hear of the subsequent failure. Ah well... You only live once!
You are now an entry in my RSS reader (haven't downloaded firefox yet).. so your blogging will be announced to me with an annoying bing-bong noise, that will make me get up, answer the door and scratch my head when there is no one there... hope this adds another level of enjoyment to your blogging experience :-)
