California
10 Days after getting back from skiing, the next stop was La Jolla (near San Diego), California, for a Quantitative Interpretation field trip. About 15 of us from work headed out west to the horrible surroundings of palm trees, sea breezes, fresh orange juice and stunning beaches that were to be our 'office' for the coming week. The trip was great, and I picked up a lot of useful stuff. It was nice to do some bits of proper geology again, and as always learn some more petroleum centric stuff.
These trips are always looked on as a bit of a cop-out from 'proper' work, but it's actually not true! Whilst they are great fun (in my opinion anyway!), you are up early, and finish late, with a lot crammed in to every day.
We spent a lot of time walking cliff sections north of La Jolla, and doing a decent amount of arm waving too...
