Padre Island
The weather was pretty good, with sun, sand, sea and best of all red wine and steaks for the BBQ. Well, the wine wasn't for the BBQ of course - you get the idea anyway...
I'd not been down to Corpus before - it's about 3 and a half hours south west from Houston along I59 and then US77. Not too bad, but I prefer mountains to beaches!
The National Seashore like all American Outdoory places was very well kept, nicely laid out with plenty of 'wild' camping locations away from civilisation. Brilliant.
It was however immensely hot, and the night on the beach was pretty uncomfortable, although I have a sneaking suscpicion that my Ajungilak sleeping bag was a little overkill for the Texas climate, claiming as it does to be usable in temperatures down to minus 18 Celsius.

Nice pic.
I too have a 4 season ajungulak, but it was way too cold camping in utah over christmas, even with a fleece liner, blankets, foil wrapping and stolen body heat. Plus any cold induced insomnia is accompanied by my brain singing 'ajungulak, ajungulak, ajungulak, weee-oooooo-oooo-oooooo, ajungulak' to the tune of the lion sleeps tonight. Highly annoying.. xxC
